Some products have remained the same for years. Occasionally they work and look the way they do because of constraints that no longer exist. I took this as an opportunity to look for pain points in simple household products. When I was scooping ice cream for a group date and managed to embarrass myself by launching a scoop out onto the floor, I knew I had a winner… After talking to people about their ice cream scooping, problems such as rock solid ice cream, sticky hands, getting every last drop, and flying scoops were clear pain points.
