Interview w/ Eddy Lee of Fenox Venture Capital

EddySquareBy recommendation of Paul Willard at Subtraction Capital, I reached out to Eddy Lee of Fenox Venture Capital for a brief interview.

Eddy finished his undergrad in Electronics Engineering. After working for a few years as an engineer, he started an international PhD program through the National University of Singapore, and Université Claude Bernard (Lyon I) in Bioengineering and Medical Imaging. Then Eddy joined Stanford University and University of Queensland, Australia as a research fellow.

Interview w/ Jonny Jensen and Thomas Bender of FLINT Design Studios

Jonny Jensen and Thomas Bender

This week I reached out to Jonny Jensen (Left) and Thomas Bender (Right), the co-founders of FLINT Design Studio in Salt Lake City.

Together, these two have a pretty prolific resume. Jonny interned as an Industrial Designer with HP, Astro Studios, and Ziba. Tom raced and worked in the cycling industry. He also worked as an independent designer for a chunk of time after graduating from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. After graduating from Brigham Young University’s Industrial Design Program, Jonny was hired on at Modaliti. Soon thereafter Thomas moved into the Salt Lake Valley and joined the team at Modaliti.

Interview w/ Marcus Tan of Carousell

Marcus Tan

Marcus Tan is a designer and co-founder at Carousell in Singapore. Carousell is an ecommerce app that was created by Marcus and his co-founders, Quek Siu Rui  and Lucas Ngoo, in 2012. The idea was born when Marcus and his co-founders realized they had some clutter in their homes and wanted a platform that allowed them to sell off the stuff they no longer needed. They found that the equivalent of “Craigslist” in Singapore was full of false ads and not meeting the needs of consumers. With the idea for an ecommerce app, they entered Startup Weekend in Singapore and won. On Carousell, you simply snap a photo of whatever you want to sell and make a listing in seconds. It is simple and fast allowing people to quickly sell products. “Popular items include high street fashion, beauty products and lifestyle gadgets.”
